Grades of Composite Decking
When it comes to composite decking, there are different factors that affect the price of each individual board. One of those factors is the ‘grade’ of the material. Trex and TimberTech both offer different lines that fit everyone’s budget. In general, when choosing which composite boards you like (and your wallet likes) the boards that are scalloped on one side, are cheaper. When a board is scalloped, it means that they use less material in the board and they are also lighter in weight, which allows the companies to ship more boards at a time. In this article, we are going to go through the different grades of composite that Trex and TimberTech offer.
Trex
Trex Composite decking is made in the USA with 95% plastic material as well as reclaimed wood. Composite decking is low maintenance, with no sanding or staining required. Trex also has warranties up to 50 years. Their composite deck boards won’t rot, warp or splinter and can withstand sun, snow and sleet while resisting stains and mold. They also offer a hidden fastener system for all 5 of their lines that allows for a look free of screw holes. You can also mix and match railings and decking across all lines of trex products. If you want Trex Enhance Decking, you can still use Trex Signature Railings!
Grades
There are 5 different grades of Trex composite decking, which makes it easy to choose the best option for your aesthetic AND budget. It is important to note that actual material costs and install costs can and will vary based on geographic area, site location, seasonality, design complexity, whether the product is stocked locally, and additional features such as stairs, fascia, angles, curves, lighting, etc.
